Stonehenge is one of the most iconic prehistoric monuments in the world, and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I photographed this 'Day to Night' just a few weeks after the summer solstice. The inner ring of Stonehenge has been closed to the public since 1978, but special access is granted a few times a year to host traditional Celtic wedding ceremonies called 'handfastings'. As luck would happen, I was blessed to capture a wedding ceremony on the very day I made this photograph. - Stephen Wilkes
Stephen Wilkes is one of America's most iconic photographers, widely recognized for his fine art, editoral and commercial work. Day to Night, Wilkes's most defining project, began in 2009. These epic cityscapes and landscapes portrayed from a fixed camera angle for up to 30 hours capture fleeting moments as light passes in front of his lens over the course of a full day. The images are then painstakingly and seamlessly blended together, capturing the passage of time within a single frame.
